Dominating an unranked opponent at home: that’s what top teams in the country are supposed to do, and that’s exactly what the No. 18 Arizona State Sun Devils did against the Alabama State University Hornets.

Arizona State swept the three sets (25-18, 25-17, 25-11) behind another well-balanced effort by the Sun Devils.

Bethany Jorgensen and Nora Tuioti-Mariner led the attack for the Sun Devils with seven kills apiece. Right behind them was BreElle Bailley with six and Whitney Follette and Macey Gardner with five each. Gardner took the night off after the first set and McKenzie Willey, who started and played well in last night’s, did not take the court against the Hornets.

The Sun Devils never seemed to be in trouble and were on cruise control after taking their first lead of the match.

Bianca Arellano continues to look strong at that starting setter spot, finishing with 26 assists, but her most exciting plays came from behind the back line with her great jump serves. Arellano had three aces as the Sun Devils totaled ten, the most they’ve recorded in a single game this season.

The Sun Devils (10-1) are now 2-0 at home and play the second game of a double header at 7 PM against Louisiana Monroe.

Check back later for the full recap with interviews with head coach Jason Watson and players.
