Murray commits, Lexing visits this weekend

It’s clear Coach Sendek knows whom he needs to replace with the 2013 recruiting class. Carrick Felix averaged 16 points and 13 rebounds while standing 6-foot-6 178 pounds his senior year at Millenium High School in Goodyear. Small forward and 3 star recruit Tre’shaun Lexing, who is visiting campus this weekend, stands at 6-foot-6 185 averaged 18 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and was named second team all state by the Tacoma News Tribune in his junior year. Despite more hype about Felix coming out of high school, the parallels between the two players are clear.

Lexing is currently fielding offers from ASU, Washington State, Colorado, Oregon State, Santa Clara, Boise State and UCLA. He would make a nice grab for the Sun Devils but with the offer sheet Lexing has, it looks as if Lexing will probably sign on the dotted line elsewhere in November

Chance Murray is a 3-star 6-foot-3 180 pounds combo guard out of Price High School in Los Angeles and committed to ASU on Sept. 9 during an official visit. If you’re looking for comparisons again, think of another ASU senior: Chris Colvin. An ESPN recruiting report said, “He is a smooth operator within 15 feet of the basket … but is still too passive at both ends and needs to finish through contact.” This is an impressive pick-up for the Sun Devils who were competing with other Pac-12 schools Washington, Cal, Oregon, Stanford, and UCLA for Murray’s talents.

Murray will be on a mission his senior year to redeem Price, who lost in the CIF division 4 state championship game last year. He joins Egor Koulechov as ASU’s other 2013 commit. All commits are still verbal until the November signing period when players can officially put pen to paper. Murray is Dedrique Taylor’s first commitment since being named recruiting coordinator after Scott Pera left. With now two out of state commits and a possible third, it seems as if the new assistant coaching hires of Larry Greer and Eric Musselman, who both have NBA experience, is already paying off.
