After a weekend playing Colorado-Boulder, the Arizona State women’s club hockey team takes on their second consecutive challenger from the rocky mountains, Colorado State.

The Sun Devils look to bounce back after being swept by the No. 10 ranked Buffaloes this past weekend. After the loss on Saturday, head Coach Lindsey Ellis spoke about what the team is going to work on during this two game stand-off against the Rams.

“Our defensive zone is an area of improvement for us. Also, getting more opportunities on net instead of taking shots from far out is something we are going to work on,” said Ellis.

The Devils will put these skills to the test against the Rams, who are coming off a split against the University of Denver in their first series of the 2017-2018 campaign.

Heading into the series with Colorado State, captain KC McGinley leads ASU in points with 2 goals and 5 assists.

When the women take the ice this Saturday, the Sun Devils will dawn pink uniforms in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

In addition to observing this special month, Arizona State hosts these pair of contests during ASU’s Parents Weekend. Sun Devil goalie Jordan Nash-Boulden talked about the preparation before the weekend’s affairs

“I think, personally, I need to communicate with my defensemen a little more and shut down some of those high-quality scoring chances. I know that some of the teams in the future don’t play as well as [C-U Boulder], so we’re just adapting to that and being able to change on the fly defensively to cover what we need to,” said the sophomore goaltender.

Through the first 4 games of the season, Nash-Boulden maintains a goals against average of 2.36 and a save percentage of .943, continuing to impress in net with acrobatic saves and positive energy that support the Sun Devil blue line.

The Sun Devils and Rams face off this weekend with games at 10:30 p.m. tonight and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
