The No. 7 ASU men’s club lacrosse team pushed through the regular season to earn the 2 seed in the south division of the Southwestern Lacrosse Conference.

The Sun Devils will host the University of Southern California (USC), who earned the 3 seed in the North division thanks to its 3-2 divisional record.

The Trojans finished under .500 at 5-8, but despite their blemished record, the divisional games helped push them into the tournament.

Claremont finished with a record of 8-5, well above .500, but missed the SLC tournament because of their 2-3 record in division.

The winner of ASU and USC will travel to California to take on No. 9 Chapman, who earned the 1 seed in the North with a 10-5 record and undefeated 5-0 conference record in the North division.

Grand Canyon University locked up the one seed in the South division, finishing 10-1 on the season and accumulated an undefeated 4-0 record in division. The Lopes also finished the 2017 regular season on the top spot of the MCLA Coaches Poll.

GCU will face the winner of 3 seed Arizona and 2 seed UC Santa Barbara.

Arizona claimed the 3 seed in the South with their 2-2 division record, despite finishing 5-8 overall. UCSB secured the 2 seed with a division record of 4-1, finishing the season out at 7-5 overall.

UCSB and Arizona faced off earlier this season, with UCSB walking away with a 10-5 victory over the Wildcats.

Both first round games will be played this Saturday at Arizona State and UCSB respectively, then all remaining teams will travel to La Costa Canyon High School in Carlsbad, California, to finish out the SLC tournament.
