After a week of preparation at home the Arizona State Gym Devils be on the road again as they travel to Denver for a non-conference quad meet against No. 7 Denver, Air Force and Texas Women’s University on Saturday night.
The Gym Devils will be looking to come back after losing to Iowa State 193.850 to 191.800 last Friday. Denver is coming off a first-place finish in a dual meet at Minnesota last week.
TWU is coming into the meet with a third-place finish in a tri-meet against Arizona and Utah. Air Force beat Winona State 190.875-184.750 its last time out.
Each of the teams has notable new talent but Arizona State is the youngest team by a long shot with seven freshmen on the roster.
Denver freshman Maddie Carr set the school record for highest all-around score by a freshman with a 39.500 in the first meet of the year, almost a full point higher than the old record set in 2001.
For Air Force, watch out for freshman Anna Salmone who came in first place on the vault last week finishing with a 9.750. ASU’s top vault score last week was a 9.700 from freshman Morgan Wilson.
Texas Women’s University’s Schyler Jones has the ability to perform strongly on every apparatus. Last week she finished first in the all-around with a score of 38.650.
The meet will begin at 6 p.m. Arizona time on Saturday.
