The No.1 Sun Devil squad took on No. 5 Oklahoma for the second game of the series on Saturday, finishing off the series sweep with a 3-2 victory in overtime.

It only took 1:48 into the first period for the Sun Devils to score the first of the night from sophomore forward Eric Rivard.

Later in the first, Oklahoma’s Mason Miller went to the box for tripping. ASU’s Connor Schmidt followed him shortly after for kneeing to make it four- on- four hockey. The Sooners were able to capitalize, when Cory Ramsey scored to tie the game up at one.

Oklahoma came out into the second period firing, but their momentum took a hit when Assistant Captain Jordan Young sent a rocket from the point, which was tipped in by Tommy Cooney putting ASU up 2-1.

With 42 seconds left in the second period, Alex Temby went to the box for hooking. Because the penalty carried over into the third period, Arizona State came out on the kill.

The Sun Devils were able to complete the kill and the third period carried on. The Sooners gained some momentum in the third, and with 1:24 left in the game Darrell Boldon found the back of the net for Oklahoma making it a tied game.

This led to overtime, where sophomore forward Michael Cummings capitalized for the maroon and gold with the game-winning goal. He celebrated by doing a pull up on the glass in Oklahoma.
