ASU Baseball: Instant Recap of Sun Devils’ 11-5 loss to the Wolf Pack

Arizona State started on the wrong foot and could never gain its footing back in an 11-5 loss to Nevada. Giving up four runs in the first inning then being promptly shut down 1-2-3 in the bottom half of the inning was a punch in the nose they simply hadn’t experienced yet this season. Yet that’s no excuse for the loss tonight, there were opportunities to limit the damage and make the game closer from an off

Player of the game:

Bryce Greager. 2-4 two runs, three-run home run, five RBIs

Unsung hero:

Chris Isbell. Two innings of shutout ball when his team needed it most-in his Sun Devil debut, no less.

You knew it was over when:

Serven lined out to left field to end the sixth inning. It was one of the hardest balls he’s hit this season and didn’t get anything to show for it. One can imagine what would’ve happened and what kind of situation red-hot Woodmansee would’ve had up next.

Biggest concern for ASU:

It’s obvious to say the pitching here, but you can make an argument for timely hitting.

Stat of the night:

ASU left 10 runners on base compared to Nevada’s three.

What’s Next?

A weekend series in Long Beach with the Dirtbags from Long Beach State.
